Mentor Graphics and ACE Collaborate to Provide a Comprehensive DSP Software Development Environment

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 3, 2001--Mentor Graphics (Nasdaq:MENT) today announced the addition of ACE Associated Compiler Experts bv (ACE) to its Certified Technology Provider (CTP) program.

As a CTP member, ACE will offer its CoSy® compiler development system to members of the Mentor Graphics® Embedded Technology Adoption Program (ETAP), enabling companies to generate high-quality compilers for use with their embedded processors and digital signal processors (DSPs). The widely used ACE compiler technology together with Mentor's leading XRAY® Debugger will provide ETAP members with access to a powerful, yet easy to use software development environment.

ACE's CoSy system is directly suited for easing the development of compilers for highly complex architectures and next-generation DSP cores. By providing a powerful compiler generation technology that addresses key requirements, including an open system option for customization, language and design flexibility, the CoSy environment enables developers to create more robust products at lower development costs. In the DSP software development environment, ETAP members can have access to the CoSy system and the XRAY technology to support a wide range of DSP architectures, including multimedia, wireless and telecommunications devices.

``The addition of ACE to the Certified Technology Providers program will enable the creation of processor specific, leading-edge development environments including both targeted compilers and debuggers for new processor cores,'' said Robert Day, director of marketing of Mentor Graphics Embedded Software Division. ``By joining CTP, ACE will work with Mentor to provide a software development architecture that will facilitate the development of next-generation consumer-oriented applications in a smooth, customizable process.''

ACE is currently providing CoSy technology and expertise to many companies within the embedded software industry, including Siroyan and Philips Semiconductors, both ETAP members. As an example, Siroyan employs both the CoSy environment and Mentor's XRAY Debugger technology to help SoC designers achieve optimal performance with its OneDSP architecture.

``ACE's compiler environment and core services have been instrumental in delivering tools that fully exploit the VLIW capabilities of our OneDSP architecture,'' said Ray Livesley, vice president of software development for Siroyan. ``Mentor Graphics and ACE's collaboration on the embedded software environment for high-end processors and DSPs will lead to additional benefits and incentives for ETAP members including more robust architectures and faster time-to-market windows.''

About the Certified Technology Providers (CTP) Program

ACE joins existing CTP members including, Sankhya Technologies, TekSci, Inc. and PEP Modular, who are recognized as reliable experts in the embedded system development industry. The CTP program was launched in September 2001 (See `Mentor Graphics Expands Embedded Technology Adoption Program By Offering Certified Technology Providers' - Sept. 4, 2001) and was created to ease the software development process by offering development tools and third-party consulting resources to aid in system software development. ETAP members can access this network of specialists to assist in creation of an embedded software environment built to handle the specific nuances of their processor or intellectual property technology.
